Surrounded by family, friends, volunteers, and local community leaders, Joey and Meg marked the completion of their rehabilitated three-bedroom home in the Magnolia Hill neighborhood of Levittown. Victor Lemus of Lemus Construction, long-time partner of Habitat Bucks, shared that, “These houses are so much more than wood and nails. They’re new beginnings.” Together, our homebuyers and their two children will transform this house into a home and begin a beautiful new chapter in Bucks County. See the Facebook event.
Those who know them best, including their Almost Home mentor, Melissa Thornton from Penn Community Bank, highlighted their story as one grounded in hard work and sacrifice. In her remarks, Melissa shared that, “If there is anything I can say about this family though, you guys were goal-oriented, you were driven, persistent, you decided that you were going to make a change for your family.” Similarly, Joey and Meg thanked those who helped them learn, grow, and make the positive financial decisions that positioned them to achieve their dream of homeownership.
This project was financed in part by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth Financing Agency, through the Bucks County Department of Housing & Community Development. We also extend our gratitude to our incredible supporters who made this project possible, including the County of Bucks, the Redevelopment Authority, Parx Casino, M&T Bank, PECO-Exelon, GAF, and Lemus Construction.
Congratulations again, Joey and Meg, and welcome home!
