As a family of four, living in a cramped two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, Joey and Meg vowed to break the cycle of instability and vulnerability that framed each of their childhoods. Determined to pave the way so their children can “grow up in a house and establish roots in Bucks County,” Joey and Meg began their partnership with Habitat Bucks.
In addition to submitting applications, forming relationships and building sweat equity, Joey and Meg participated in Habitat Bucks’ Almost Home financial empowerment program where they learned the value of paying down their debt and saving money. Joey took on a second, part-time job, and in five months, they have improved their credit score and saved $12,000, building a strong foundation for their future.
In September, Joey and Meg will become first-time homebuyers, realizing their dream of providing a safe and affordable home for themselves and their young family.
