We have all been impacted by the worldwide spread of the coronavirus. Right now, we’re seeing first-hand the impact it’s having on Habitat Bucks’ homeowners. So, we are designating this #GivingTuesdayNow as a family relief fund.

Some of our families are working on the front lines – stocking shelves so that we have the supplies we need, preparing food, delivering meals and packages, and caring for those who are sick. At the same time, they may be facing additional childcare expenses because schools are closed.

Other families are struggling to get by because their work hours have been reduced – or even cut completely.

That’s why we’re participating in  and starting a Family Relief Fund to offer mortgage relief to Habitat Bucks’ homeowners who have been negatively affected by COVID-19 – giving them room in their budgets to make up for lost income due to the pandemic.

Now, more than ever, Habitat Bucks’ families need you. This is an uncertain time for everyone, and we continue to be grateful for your partnership and support as we face this challenge together, as a community.

If you are able, please consider contributing to our Giving Tuesday 2020 #FamilyReliefFund. Each and every gift – large or small – will have an immediate impact, and help ease a family’s burden.

Many of our families are earning less than 60% of the Area Median Family Income when they purchase their homes, so we provide these homebuyers with a 0% interest 30-year Habitat mortgage. Your gift will help manage the pandemic’s impact on these homeowners by funding mortgage relief for these families, and if funds allow, costs to finish homes and home repair projects that were underway before the shut-down.

Our mission is simple: Building Communities, Empowering Families. Strong families are the key to stability in a community, and a safe and decent home is fundamental in strengthening the family. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, strong childhood development and the ability – and the financial flexibility – to make forward-looking choices. One of our homeowners, Peggy, said it best: “Thank you for making it possible for me to purchase a safe, affordable home to watch my children grow up, and the freedom to pay attention, because I don’t have to be overwhelmed with financial worry all of the time.”

Thank you for your support during this national day of giving.
