At Habitat
Bucks, volunteers build homes, work in the office, plan special
events, raise funds and spread the word about Habitat. From seniors
to youth and from every skill set, volunteers learn valuable job
and life skills. They have the ability to unite with others to
improve their community and make a difference in the lives of
people within it. Volunteering also creates a unique sense of
pride, self-achievement and camaraderie.

Volunteers
help welcome home six families.
On Thursday, March 13, Habitat for Humanity held a dedication
ceremony to welcome six new homeowners to Emerald Hollow! Pastor
Robert Mitman of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Perkasie
joined us to dedicate the homes of the Andrew, Allen, Dorn, Staats,
Lewis, and Gicuki-Thiga families. Keys were presented by Family
Support Committee members Brian Haigh, Pat Petersman, and Susan
Vincent, Collegiate Challenge volunteers from Avon Old Farms School
and Miss Porter’s School, Sandi Stachelek representing Buffini
& Company, and Jim Walker and Tom Ritter from Lowe’s
in Warrington and Quakertown. Welcome gifts for the families were
provided by the Faith Relations Committee, Ed Neff, Buckingham
Friends School, the Upper Bucks County Thrivent Chapter, and Carols
Scents n Soaps. Bibles donated by Berean Christian Store were
presented to each family, and volunteer Jill Sonlin provided delicious
refreshments for the ceremony. Thank you to everyone whose contributions
helped these six families achieve their dream of homeownership!
 Physicians
Endoscopy staff partners with Habitat by raising funds and volunteering!
Day sponsor Physicians Endoscopy
spent three Wednesdays in January painting doors, hanging drywall,
and braving the cold to work on foundations at Emerald Hollow.
Roman Delight, next door neighbor at their Doylestown office,
provided lunch at each build day. Thank you to Physicians Endoscopy
and their employees for your tremendous
support!
Buffini Blitz Build
From June 23-30, Habitat
held a Blitz Build with Buffini & Company and Fox & Roach
Charities. The build was part of Buffini & Company’s
Hands of Hope 2007 campaign during which they will sponsor and
build 12 Habitat for Humanity homes throughout the United States.
The corporations provided Habitat Bucks with a $75,000
sponsorship and numerous volunteers who braved the 90º
heat to assist with home construction. The blitz build focused
on a five-unit cluster of homes, and by the end of the week 2
foundations were complete, and framing was in progress on the
other 3 homes. The week culminated in a closing ceremony at which
Habitat Executive Director Linda Andrews thanked all the participants
for giving hope to families in Bucks County. Partner family Kelly
Lewis and daughter Ivonna were also on hand to thank Buffini &
Company and Corporate Giving Manager Christine Wiersema, who coordinated
the entire Hands of Hope campaign.
