WELCOMING…
On Mar. 28, James Ndungu and Margaret Mungai,
along with their daughters, Suzie and Winnie, made settlement
on their home in Emerald Hollow. Congratulations James and Margaret
on your accomplishment!
The family support committee is under reconstruction, and on
its way to becoming a thriving committee. We would like to welcome
new members: Arlene Alderfer, Jim Clair, Jennifer Gordon, Elaine
Jones, Marie Marquis, Tom Marquis, Simon Ngorimo, Pat Petersman,
Susan Vincent and Laura Zajchowski. We would also like to thank
current members for their hard work and service to our families:
Phyllis Boyer, Christina DiPaolo, Stan Reinford and Melody Sajeski.
ON SITE…
Settlement on the first end unit in Cluster 12
was Mar. 28, and the last home in the cluster will settle next
month. Cluster 11 framing is complete on three of the homes, and
has just begun on the fourth. Cluster 10, a five unit cluster,
was started at the end of March, and volunteers will begin working
on the foundations in April.
Careerbuilder.com are sponsoring a build day at Emerald Hollow
for their employees on Thur., Apr. 12. For more information on
how your group can become a day sponsor, please contact Trish
at t.schoor@habitatbucks.org
or 215.348.2204 x303.

spring, and spring means the ReSale is here once again! It’s
time to come out to the big red barn (1733 Creamery Road in Trumbauersville)
and check out our extensive selection of doors, windows, flooring,
cabinets, and more to meet your remodeling needs. We will be open
every Saturday May 5 – June 9 from 8am until noon. For more

¶¶¶ Come visit us soon for a special deal:
Ten gorgeous dining room tables from a premier name brand
furniture retailer were just delivered to the ReSale. The tables
are large; most measure 74” in length and have two leaves.
They are all brand new from the showroom floor and priced at around
$500 each, they are still a quarter of their retail value! They
will not be at the ReSale long, so get there soon! ¶¶¶
Are you ready to Act! Give! Share! in 2007? We hope that your
experience with Habitat Bucks has been nothing but positive. In
fact, we hope that you’ve contracted Habit-itis and now
we want you to spread it around! SHARE Build-a-Thon taking place
on Sat., Jun. 2 is your chance to invite someone - a friend, neighbor,
family member, co-worker, whomever! - to join you in supporting
Habitat. We ask that, as a team, you gather sponsors to fund your
day on site and come out for a fabulous day of building with Ray
and the crew. For more information or to register, contact Laura
at l.mcclellan@habitatbucks.org
or x302.
The Faith Relations Committee is on fire! This small but lively
group has set some significant goals for strengthening relationships
within the local faith community in 2007 and we need your help!
The committee will next meet on Tues. Apr. 10 at the Habitat office
at 6:30pm. We’d love to see you there! For more information,
contact Laura at l.mcclellan@habitatbucks.org
or x302.
The next Women Build steering committee meeting will be held
on Thur., Apr. 12 at 6:30pm at our office. This amazing group
of women truly make Women Build possible. This program is largely
volunteer-driven and there is much behind-the-scenes work being
done by Women Build-ers. This lively group could definitely use
your help! For more information, contact Laura at l.mcclellan@habitatbucks.org
or x302.
Women Build will be hosting a booth at the Peddler’s Village
Strawberry Festival on May 5 – 6. Available for sale that
day will be tickets for the amazing Makefield Women’s Associate
Harvest Day Raffle. Women Build has been chosen as one of the
(two) beneficiaries for the raffle, which last year raised $10,000!
Essentially, the women of the MWA spend the year assembling theme
baskets for which raffle tickets are sold. They are already hard
a work and have created “Pocono Couples Resort”, “I
love NY”, “Destination – Peddler’s Village”
baskets and many more, some including very big-ticket items. Our
role as a beneficiary is to spread the word so that raffle tickets
get sold. So please, buy some tickets for yourself if you’re
interested. Order forms for tickets will soon be available on
the MWA website (www.makefieldwomensassociation.org).
In the meantime, contact Audrey at president@makefieldwomensassociation.org
or 215.321.6365.
Our first Women Build Day of 2007 at Emerald Hollow will held
on Sat., Apr. 21. This is a great opportunity for women new to
the program to try their hand at construction and see what Habitat
is all about. Spaces remain, but they are limited; registration
is required. To register, please contact Laura at l.mcclellan@habitatbucks.org
or x302.
OUT AND ABOUT…
Members of our Faith Relations Committee will
speak on Sun., Apr. 15, to an adult forum group at St. John’s
UCC of Lansdale.
MAKING NOTE…
Trees and shrubs. Trees and shrubs. We need trees
and shrubs! Are you a landscaper? Work at a nursery? We need your
help! As our building project winds down at Emerald Hollow, we
need to start planting to make the outdoor space feel as good
as the indoor space. Contact Trish Schoor for more details and
how you can help at t.schoor@habitatbucks.org
or 215-348-2204, x303.
Despite ending a day early due to the winter weather, Collegiate
Challenge week was a success! Eleven students from Miss Porter’s
School and nine from Avon Old Farms School, both high schools
in Connecticut, spent their spring break building with Habitat
Bucks. Volunteers spent two sunny 70° days framing, loading
roofing trusses, and preparing to dig foundations at Emerald Hollow
before being forced to leave early due to a winter storm. Students
at Kutz Elementary School provided lunches and motivational cards
for the Collegiate Challenge volunteers, who were able to join
the Kutz students for recess one day. The volunteers stayed at
Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trumbauersville and Quakertown
United Methodist Church, and shower facilities were provided by
the Upper Bucks YMCA. Members of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church
coordinated a delicious lasagna dinner to welcome the students
to Bucks County. Thank you to Miss Porter’s School for joining
us for their fourth year, and to Avon Old Farms School for building
with Habitat Bucks for their second year!
Eugenia Salazar from the Latin America and Caribbean Area Habitat
for Humanity office (located in San José, Costa Rica) and
Connie Ledesma from Habitat Argentina will be visiting New York,
Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in late
April. They will be swinging by our affiliate on Apr. 26, so that
they can learn a bit about Bucks County and we can gain some knowledge
about their work.

From 2005-2008, Habitat for Humanity will
build 36 affordable homes in Bucks County. Each home will require
a commitment of 2000 volunteer hours and financial contributions
averaging $4,250 per day. Habitat relies strictly on the generosity
and commitment of our neighbors and partner families to provide
these resources, and to make safe, affordable housing a matter
of conscience and action in our community.
