Meet the newest Partner Families! We can hardly wait to celebrate the joy of homeownership with them. Until then, enjoy their stories, and how they became part of the Habitat family.
LaTarsha McWhite, her two children, Ronald and Ronnie, and her mother, Irene, share a two-bedroom apartment and a very high rent payment. Their rent is more than their mortgage will be for a new, four-bedroom home on Liberator Street in Bristol Township.
The family’s income qualifies them for a zero-percent interest mortgage through Habitat Bucks, and they will soon be able to move into a home with room to grow and thrive, including a dining room large enough for a table that seats four.
Like many families who inquire about the homeownership program, LaTarsha’s credit needed some work before she could be accepted. She didn’t have long to do what needed to be done and she tackled it with gusto. She had one goal in mind: the future of her family. Once she received the news of her acceptance for homeownership, she and her family drove to the site of their new home and each scooped some dirt from the lot into a cup, which LaTarsha keeps on her bureau.
This fall, owning a home, and the lot on which it sits, will become a reality for LaTarsha and her family. Once the house is complete and they finish their 250 sweat equity hours, they will receive the keys.
